Best Air Travel Tips

Posted by morgan26

by Russell Eaton

Here is a list of tips to help you plan and execute your air trip without mishaps. These tips are a useful checklist for anybody traveling by air.

Check your passport expiry date. Ideally it needs to be valid for at least six months beyond your travel return date. Some countries actually require that your passport be valid for at least six months into the future.

Decide well in advance what you will be taking with you as hand luggage and what you will be sending separately. The luggage restrictions are much tougher for accompanied bags. Do this several days before you plan to travel as it may affect your luggage plans and other travel arrangements.

Confirm the flight dates and times for all parts of your trip to make sure that it matches up with your ticket
information, hotel bookings and so on.

Make a photocopy of your air travel itinerary and your passport photo page, and leave copies with your workplace and family members or friends. This is a very useful contingency in case you suffer a mishap or in case you need to be contacted in an emergency. Include phone numbers and addresses of where you can be contacted.

When traveling internationally make sure that you have any visas that may be required. Verify if there are business or tourist visas and which one best suits the purpose of your travel.

Make a photocopy of your passport, visas and other essential travel information. Pack this copy in your luggage in case the original documents are stolen or lost.

If you use special medication or if you have special medical needs or allergies create a brief report and have it translated into the language of your travel destination. You made need this information in an emergency so keep the document with you.

If traveling abroad here is a great tip: prepare a list of key phrases written in the local language such as thank you, please, where is, help, how much, and so on. You just need a small piece of paper showing a dozen or so key phrases.

Theft is always a concern at airports, but it also happens on flights. Therefore never leave valuables on your seat or near by - take them with you if you leave your seat.

Constantly be aware of your surroundings while in the airport. Many thieves go to airport specifically to steal.

Hotel Room Safety

Posted by morgan26

by Dorothy Yamich

Professional thieves tend to hang around hotels and resorts, especially the lobbies, looking for tourists and travelers that are easy pickings. Here are some travel tips that may help you feel more safe and secure in your hotel room when you are traveling, or are on vacation.

Try and book a room that is on the second, third, fourth, or fifth floors, as ground floor hotel rooms are more susceptible to break ins. Keep in mind that rooms above the fifth floor may not be accessible by many fire engine ladders if a fire breaks out in the hotel.

Make sure the door to your hotel room locks properly, and that all windows or sliding doors open and also lock securely.

It’s probably not a good idea to hang a “please clean the room” sign on the door knob when you go out, as it signals to a would be thief that there likely is nobody in the room.

Do not give your hotel room number to anyone that you don’t know and trust.

There are small, battery-operated, motion-sensitive, burglar alarms that can be hung on the inside hotel door knob, or there are wedge-shaped alarms that you can wedge under the door that will accomplish the same thing. If someone tries to open the hotel room door, the alarm will go off.

Two less sophisticated methods you can use are moving a chair in front of the hotel room door, or wedging a standard rubber door stopper under the door. Either one of these methods are also effective.

Police Tips For Safety While Traveling Part 3

No one knows better than the police which tricks criminals are using on unsuspecting tourist. By Rachael Jackson and Budget Travel

Orlando. Be wary of discounted, multi-day theme-park tickets sold at shops on International Drive near Universal Studios or outside Disney World and the city Kissimmee, says Detective Mike Atwood of the Orange County Sherriff’s Office. Touts working for some whops wait outside the parks when they close and buy multi-day passes from people who don’t need them anymore. The shops then resell the tickets, which may have a couple of days left on them, to tourist at a reduced rate. The parks prohibit the reselling of passes and attendants will turn you away if you’re caught trying to use one.

Philadelphia. Take your GPS device with you when you park in tourist areas, such as around the Liberty Bell. Lieutenant Frank Vanore says thefts of the gadgets from cars rose dramatically in the first four months of 2008 compared to the same period last year. Don’t leave even a trace of a GPS unit in your car-such as a stray ord coming out the glove compartment or the imprint of a suction cup on the windshield. “Take a couple of minutes and completely wipe down the windo,” says Vanore.

Washington, D.C. Police launched a campaign this year to remind people to lock their car doors at gas stations-thefts of items from unattended cars at stations went up nearly fivefold from 2006 to 2007. THere has also been a steep rise in robberies of iPods and cell phones on the Metro, with criminals simply snatching the devices out the hands of distracted passengers. Police advise riders to conder not using the white apple earphone, because the color is a dead giveaway for iPods. “The last thing you want to do is make it easy for the bad guys,” says Officer Josue Aldiva.

London. Always take the city’s old-fashioned back cabs, which are licensed by the city, rather than the so-called “minicabs” that sometimees wait outside theaters, retaurants and bars at night, says Scotland Yard spokesman Alan Crockford. In 2005, an average of 10 women a month were assaulted by the drivers of minicabs, according to the most recent data available from the London Metropolitan Police. Minicabs belonging to a car service are licensed but even those cars are only legally permitted to pick up passengers who have called to amake a reservacation-they can’t stop for people on the street. Contact the Transport for London office (011-44/20-7222-1234, tlf.gov.uk) if you want a list of licensed minicab company number, Crockford says.

Montreal. Police commander Alanin Simoneau says the theft of car stereos, Laptops, IPods and GPS devices from unlocked cars is huge problem. Cars in Old Montreal are often targeted and Simoneau say you should put your belongings in the trunk when you park there. Police officers have begun placing pamphlets on car windshields and in restaurants are a reminder for tourists to lock up. Not doing so could even cost you money; leaving your doors unlocked is against the law in the province of Quebec and punishable by a fine of at least $30.

New Orleans. A common scam is the French Quarter goes something like this: A man approaches you and says, “Bet you $5 that I can tell you where you got your shoes!” Whether you accept the bet or not, he adds, “On your feet on Bourbon Street,” and demands the money. Authorities say some people pay up just to avoid a confrontation. If a stranger tries to entice you into a bet, police officer Shereese Happer suggest you keep walking and don’t say a word-responding encourages the scam artist to harass you.

Barcelona. Your’re pretty safe walking anywhere in the manin tourist areas, but wary of strangers who are a little too friendly, says a police spokeswoman who was not authorized to give her name. If someone asks how you like Barcelona or tries to hug you, hold on to your valuables tightly: pickpockets use technique to like these to throw people off guard. The police department has a special unit that roams crowded areas like LaRambla disguised as tourists right down to the maps and cameras, to watch for thieves in action.

Cancun. The vendors selling jewelry on the beach will say just about anything to get you to buy their merchandise. Police say you should be skeptical of the claims. Jewelry sellers often tell tourists that their wares are made of real silver and then quote a price starting at around $20, says Veronica Fajardo, a spokeswoman for the Cancun police. But she points out that the jewelry is almost always made from cheap metal that will turn yellow lose its sheen within weeks. “Tourists from the U.S. and Canada are always looking for a bargain,” Fajardo says. “They might get a cheaper price [on the beach] but the jewelry is definitely not of the highest quality.”

Las Vegas. If your cab ride from the airport to the Strip takes more than 20 minutes, you’ve probably been the victim of a “long haul” in which the driver chooses a circuitous route to jack up the fare, says police officer Jose Montoya. The state taxi authority says reports of long hauling are on the rise. Police urge anyone who believes he’s been taken for a ride to file a complaint at the taxi.state.nv.us.

MS Beach Vacation Condos Gulf Coast Cool

Posted by morgan26

We have all heard of southern friendliness, right? Well, what greater way to experience it than a getaway to Mississippi? Precisely, when most of us consider of Mississippi we think of swampland and alligators but what we don’t consider is that Mississippi has a different side. The southernmost portion of the state adjoining Biloxi touches the Gulf of Mexico and here you can pinpoint some notable beaches and vacation spots. Mississippi Beach Vacation condos are some of the least expensive, most charming locale to plan your vacation.

Due to their relatively unheard-of position, Mississippi beach vacations condos are a good find.

Not only will you probably have most of the surroundings to yourself but you will also have availability to countless native goodies, including casinos, championship golf courses, exceptional cuisine, art galleries, charter boat fishing, famed potteries, museums, historic districts, outlet malls, incomparable shopping areas, world-class entertainment and so much more.

Mississippi beach vacation condos are preferred not only for their affordability but also for their locale. This section of the Gulf Coast shoreline is much less sprawling than the shorelines in close Florida, Alabama, and Louisiana. Here you feel much more like you have the beach to yourself, likely kind of what vacationing felt like decades ago. Today, you are infrequently isolated no matter where you go nevertheless Mississippi beach vacation condos provide you that feeling fairly close to home. As far as affordability goes, you will not likely discover a greater rental condo for your buck than the condos you locate on Mississippi’s Gulf Coast. Even though rates do fluctuate, you are inclined to pay at least half the daily fee of what you would spend for a rental condo in Florida.

If you are going to lease a Mississippi beach vacation condo, you taste the food. Southern cooking is some of the topnotch cusine to be enjoyed on the planet and the restaurants of Biloxi are no exception. Presently you will locate a ample diversity of restaurants serving seafood, Creole food and traditional Southern fare.

If night life is what you came to do, there are lots of casinos and cabarets in the district to check out. Biloxi is a metropolitan area noted for its night life and is certain to not disappoint. The Biloxi city has approximately twenty casinos, including the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Casino and Resort.

The environment in the Biloxi area is much nicer than you may think. When countless numbers of us think of the South, we think of unholy hot weather and many biting insects. However, due to Biloxi’s locale on the Gulf Coast, you get that marvelous, unsoiled sea air that takes the heat away, leaving you with a genial, charming environment that you can really relish.

If you are considering a vacation on the Gulf Coast, consider staying in a Mississippi beach vacation condo. Totally forget the commonplace, congested places and try something atypical. Mississippi is clamoring for your business and will do anything to keep you satisfied. This coupled with traditional southern friendliness makes for a renowned experience. So grant Mississippi a chance on your next vacation, your family and your pocket will appreciate it!

Your next vacation can be Mississippi Beach Vacations Condos on the one of a kind Gulf Coast. While you are there check the rest of the site to arrange other getaways Family Beach Vacations
